The shape of the genoa is determined by:
1. The fullness of the sail
2. The draft position
3. The twist of the sail.
Basic trimming variables:
4. Sheet tension
5. Sheet traveller position
6. Forestay tension
7. The luff (halyard) tension
The genoa sheet is the most used trimming device.
The sheet primarily determines the sail's angle to the
boat's centreline, but also affects sail depth and twist.
NB! The closer you sheet the sails to the centreline
the higher the boat is able to point. Remember also
that even if a trim device has a main function, it
also affects the other factors that determine the
shape of the sail |
